all about Anna

Our sweet baby girl is just over 17 months old. She is growing up way too fast. Not only did she crawl out of the pack and play at the lake this passed weekend she also managed to crawl out of her crib when we got home. I had a feeling it wouldn't be long, but I wasn't expecting the first or second night home. In desperation of a solution and to keep her in her crib I asked for tips on my Facebook page. I got several replies with good ideals. Turning the crib around, dropping the mattress to the floor, putting a gate in the door, etc. But the idea that seemed most logical to me was to put her in a sleeping sack so she couldn't get herself over the crib with the restrictions on her legs. So we fished out an old sleeping sack and gave it a whirl. I am happy to say she hasn't gotten out of the crib since. (on a side note I went in there after her nap today and she did have the sleeping bag open but she didn't climb out. Fingers crossed) It seems like if there is a challenge for her she will beat it. No matter what anyone does.

Anna has also become quit the little talker. It literally happened overnight. One day (Tuesday) she was pointing at something saying- egh egh. The next day (Wednesday) she started saying things pretty clear. The first noticeable thing she said was- "baby". She said it plain as day. She saw a picture of a baby and just said, "baby". Some other words she is saying very often are- Ozzy, Mama, Dada, Hot, Shoes and Uh Oh. We have a picture of Ozzy in her room and she loves to look at the picture and say his name- over and over.

Speaking of pictures she loves to look at pictures and point at the people in it and have us tell her who they are. She will do this for the longest time. She goes over to grab a picture and brings it to me and sits on my lap and we play this little name game. Her favorite picture is one of my family when we were in the Hills last summer. I think it is because there are so many people in the picture.

And she loves birds! Loves to watch them and loves to hear them sing.

morning at the zoo

Shelley asked me yesterday if Isaac wanted to go with her and Hudson to the zoo this morning. The answer of course was yes. They had a really good time. She sent me some pictures this afternoon.

lake season!

With the extremely nice weather over the last few weeks we were able to start lake season off a little early. Jeff and Joe went a couple of weeks ago to open the cabin and to get the dock in. Jeff and I took the kids this passed weekend to meet the cable guy. It is going to be a fun and busy summer, I am sure of it. I took Isaac down to the water the first night and he spent so much time throwing rocks into the water. In the morning we took both kids down and they played in the sand and jumped off the dock to Jeff. Over and over. Both loving every minute.

Now the hard part. Miss Anna decided to climb out of the pack and play the first night. We are in trouble. We finally rocked her to sleep- reminder that Anna is not the kid who can be rocked to sleep. We have never rocked her- always just put her in her crib and let her work it out. We found a crib on Craigslist and bought it. We got it set up and she climbed out of that, too! We have gotten her to sleep by rocking her every time but we are not sure how this will work out thru the summer. Stinker!

Mother's Day Weekend

Wow- what a busy weekend filled with family, friends and lots of activities! We are so lucky.

First, Saturday morning we attended the annual Avera Breast Cancer Race. This is my 4th year in a row and every year it gets bigger and bigger. This year there were over 6,400 people! Amazing. Dave ran the 10k. Jeff ran the 5k and several of us walked the family fun 1.5 mile walk.

Saturday afternoon Isaac had soccer and then we were invited to a pool party at the neighbors house. We came home Saturday evening and had some friends over to grill out and have a fire pit.

Today, Mother's Day- We started the day off by going to see Jeff's grandma. Then we went to my mom's and had brunch with my family. Jeff and I came home with Anna so she could nap. Isaac went with my dad, Owen and Cappy to catch frogs and to golf. While Anna napped we planted my pots. Then we went to Sophia's soccer game.

Tonight after we had dinner Jeff had to run to do a work thing. Isaac wanted to have dessert with me. He picked the hostess cupcake and had me cut it in half for us to split dessert. Sweet little boy.

It was a good weekend. Busy and good. Happy Mother's Day!

expanding playgroup

I snapped this picture with my phone quick during a playdate this week. This playgroup is going to expand big time this summer. We are missing one baby who is not in the picture. The two boys on the top left are going to be big brothers of twins coming this summer! I can't wait to see all the babies! Suzie will be adding a baby to this group, too. So this group will no be +4 more kids by the end of the summer. Wow!

I went to Las Vegas last weekend with some friends. We had a great time and very little sleep! It was a fun group. It was my friends Sharon and Emily- I have known them all of my life. We grew up down the street from each other and have been friends forever. My friends Nikki and Sonia came, too. They are both great friends from high school. Kelly also came, I know her through friends and have known her since college. The group worked really well together. We went to dinner the first night at a nice restaurant and then went out. On Saturday night we went to Beatles LOVE (cirque du soleil) and it was amazing! So amazing. If you are ever in Vegas you must go see this show. After the show went went out again. We did a little dancing, laying out and just laughed a lot. Thanks ladies for the fun weekend away!
