Wow. I cant believe another year has come and gone. Life is so good and moving so fast. I am so happy for this blog to read through and remind myself of what we have been up to.
I will start with Anna. She had really fun year being 1! She has grown up so much over the year. She has developed a love for Barney, Elmo, Bernie (Bert and Ernie), Cookie Monster, Baby Bop, BJ, Mickey and Minnie. She loves them all and talks about them all the time. She was lucky enough to go see her favorite Sesame Street characters in concert. She loved them so much but didn't want them to get too close. She loved the lake and swimming and playing. The stinker figured out how to crawl out of the crib when she was under 18 months while we were at the lake. We quickly came up with a solution to have her sleep in a sleep sack to keep her in her crib. This remedy lasted until November when she discovered how to get out of the sleep sack that was on backwards. We converted her crib to a toddler bed and that lasted one night. This resulted in such a terrible night of sleep for Jeff and I that I put the crib back together the next day. Jeff found out another way to keep her in her crib- 2 sleep sacks, backwards. So we are going to ride this out as long as we can. We know the crib isn't going to last much longer but we are doing all we can to keep her in. Her vocabulary has exploded and can say everyones name and talks so much. She adores her big brother most of the time. She keeps us on our toes at all times. She recently celebrated her 2nd Birthday and has mastered the meltdown. Oh but we love her to pieces!
Isaac, oh Isaac. He is so much fun. Such a big boy with a determined personality. He is also our people pleaser (like his mom). His passion for Super Mario Brothers and sports amazes me. Isaac spend most of last winter learning how to ski- with Jeff at Great Bear and then at ski school in Lake Tahoe in March with is cousin. He also played more soccer in the spring and really loved it. As soon as the game was over he was asking when he could play again. He loved giving a play by play to anyone who asked. He has developed a major love for Notre Dame football and the Dallas Cowboys. He asks us everyday if football is playing that day. Isaac started his second year of preschool in the fall and he goes 3 days a week. He has made so many friends and has excelled so much. He amazes me all the time. He loves to spend time with his cousins, as well. He is growing up so fast, I can hardly stand it.
My life continues to run smooth. Hanging with the kids is what I do best. I also have had a few chances to get a few weekends away this year- girls weekends. I went to Vegas in April, Omaha in September and Minneapolis in December. Those weekends are greatly appreciated! I also continue to play bunco once a month. I really enjoy all my playgroups with other moms with whom I love so dearly. They are such a huge part of my life. My grandma passed away in November a month after she and my grandpa celebrated 70 years of marriage. It was really hard.
Jeff is still working away flipping burgers and Burger King. He works so hard and we are so proud of him. He also worked so hard this year on the Sioux Falls Airshow that comes once every 3 years. He was gone many hours but it paid off when we (mostly Isaac) were able to meet the pilots of some pretty amazing airplanes. The weekend the airshow was it here it was so so hot. Jeff also got to spend a weekend in Palm Springs with some college friends. He went to a Notre Dame game in October and he just took a day trip to Vail to go skiing.
Jeff and I spent a long weekend in Cancun in January. We also had a quick getaway to Minneapolis in July for a Twins game and another quick getaway in September to Lincoln Nebraska for my first UNL football game. We both really really love our weekends away. It is so good for our relationship.
One major highlight of 2012 was spending 8 days in Seattle. Jeff climbed Mt Ranier for 3 full days with Joe and Dave while Suzie and I took on Seattle with 3 kids under the age of 4. We had such a great time. We were so happy to get to Seattle while Kristy and Scott lived there.
2 other major highlights were the birth of 2 new babies! Suzie and Dave had a little boy in May, Sullivan. Jack and Patricia also had a little boy in July, Jace.
I think that wraps up our year. I cant wait to see what 2013 is going to bring!

Well it was time for a little snip snip for Anna. We didn't cut much off but cleaned up the ends a little bit. She wouldn't let us put a cape on her and she was really squirmy. Wow. Half way through we had to give her a sucker to keep her still. Wow. We got it done.
Getting my kids pictures taken is not one of my favorite things to do. However, I feel like it is important to do so considering they are growing up way too fast. So last week when Anna turned 2 I lined it up. I had 3 really cute outfits for her to wear. When we arrived we got started with the first outfit and all was good. When I changed her into outfit number 2 everything kind of fell apart. She refused to put clothes on. So we did the second half with her just in a diaper. Oh well, she is 2.
I had Isaac get in on a couple, as well. While Anna was having her meltdown he got a few pictures in his beloved Notre Dame jersey.

My dad's high school in Minneapolis is De La Salle. Back when my dad went to school there it was an all boys private school. Now it is a coed school and kids have to apply to get in. This school is located in downtown Minneapolis. Kids from all over the twin cities area go to school here. Every year the basketball team participates in the Mike Miller classic in Mitchell. On their way to Mitchell they stop at my parents house for dinner. This year Isaac was invited to join in the fun. I went as well to help my mom and to just be there. It was really awesome!
We walked into the door and Isaac was wearing his Notre Dame jersey and that was an instant conversation starter. Isaac told them all his facts. Isaac sat next to a couple of the guys during dinner and I am sure he just talked their ear off. Isaac was in heaven- lots of smiles and laughs.
The team is full of talent. Most of them looking toward scholarships in basketball or another sport they are in. In the picture below Isaac is sitting on the lap of a kid named Reed Travis. His brother plays basketball for Harvard. Reed is ranked number 34 in the nation for his age- junior. He is going to have some pretty awesome opportunities in the near future. Reed is also the starting quarter back for the football team. He wears number 9- Isaac was so excited- just like Tony Romo!
Owen was ear to ear smiles the whole time, as well as Isaac. Tomorrow my dad and mom are going to take both boys to Mitchell to watch them play.
What an awesome opportunity!

Yesterday afternoon Jeff got an offer he couldn't quite refuse. Tommy asked him to take a day trip to Vail to ski today! Jeff had to be at his house at 5:15 this morning and they were on the plane taking off at 5:45. I had a message from him at noon and they were just getting ready to hit the slopes. He said it is cold and snowy but really fun as it has been over 10 years since he has gone skiing there. He is supposed to be home at about midnight.

Ahh, it is so fun on Christmas with my 2 kids! They are what Christmas is all about. Isaac slept until 7:30 on Christmas morning (Thank you, God) and came in our room full of Santa info, "I opened one eye in front of the tree and say Elmo. I opened my other eye and saw all kinds of presents for me from Santa!" He is so excited about Santa.
We spent the morning playing with toys and working on the new Mario puzzle- Isaac loves it. We went to see Jeff's grandma in the hospital for a while. We came home for Anna's nap. After her nap we went and looked at lights.
Jeff's parents came to town and we were so happy to have them here. Isaac and Anna have missed them so much and played with them nonstop when they were around. They played tag. Grandpa bounced around with Anna on her blue puppy. They read books. They put puzzles together. Wow!

On Christmas eve my dad took the bigger kids ice skating. Isaac was able to go this year, it was his first time. My dad said he was really getting the hang of it by the end. It was a really cold day. After they went ice skating my dad took them home for some hot chocolate. What an awesome grandpa!

We celebrated Christmas a few days early with my family. It was really fun and the kids had a blast! Suzie and I made spaghetti with meatballs for the crew. Isaac got his Mario game he has been asking for from Suzie and Anna just loved opening gifts from anyone for anyone. She was totally into it. We had fun. After dinner and presents we played games until about 10:30 or so.

Oh Happy Birthday to our wild and crazy little girl! One thing for sure I learned this Birthday is having a girl is completely different than having a boy. Pink everything! Pink took kit, pink legos, pink minnie mouse, purse with make up, minnie mouse dress up, and on and on!
Anna started the day with a few melt downs but as the day went on things went better. When people showed up for the party she was having so much fun! She loved being the center of the party, for sure!
To my Anna,
2 years ago you came into our lives and you have changed our world. You strong willed and you think you are the boss. I laugh when you yell at Ozzy, which is most of the time. You and Isaac play well, most of the time. There is the occasional pinch or hit (usually on your part). I have learned to stop fighting you on things like putting socks and shoes on before we go in the car, or putting your coat on. I just bring it with us because you want to do it on your time. I know that you mostly just want crackers for breakfast. You love Minnie Mouse, Barney, Elmo and Cookie Monster. You love to spend time coloring in Isaac's room. You love to copy everything he does. He comes to show me his color project and you come out seconds later with your art work, as well. You love love to take tubbies and showers, sometimes 2 times a day. You love to go outside and swing, you beg- even when it is freezing. I am proud to say your little spunk might be from your mom. :)

On Friday at about 3:30 there was a little knock on the door and guess who walked in... Uncle Joe! Isaac went running to greet him. I got Anna out of her room and as soon as she saw him she yelled his name and went running to him. The kids were so excited! We haven't seen Joe since Seattle in August so it was really special to have him come visit for the long weekend.
You know your kids love their uncle when: Jeff and I had plans for Friday night and Joe was babysitting. So, we were trying to get out of the house and Anna went ahead and opened the garage door saying, "bye bye mommy, bye bye daddy, see ya." We get it!
Their little faces lit up every morning when Joe would come up the stairs.
This morning Joe was able to see Isaac off to school and he left shortly after Anna woke up. After Isaac got done with school he asked me if Joe left. I told him he did. He looked kinda bummed. Isaac told me that he went downstairs before he went to school to tell Joe thanks for the Dream Lite (toy) and that he really loved his Uncle Joe.
Joe, You are welcome to come visit anytime! The kids seriously LOVE you. Thanks for spending Anna's Birthday weekend with us.
