mini Christmas tree

This year I kind of decided not to do a Christmas tree since we will be in Arizona for Christmas. Then a couple of things happened and we have decided to host a little early Christmas/Anna's Birthday at my house before we go so I had to get something up. After last years tree, I am done with real trees. So Lizzie came by last night with her little tree and set it all up for me. The kids are so excited about it! Anna cant stop checking it out and pulling everything off of it and Isaac wants to get more decorations! My mind has been made up that with kids around we will be buying a fake tree and putting it up every year, even when we go to Arizona. How could I be such a scrooge?

Even though it is mini it is perfect for the kids.

Peek A Boo!

pie in the oven!

In Suzie's oven that is!

Yahoo! She and Dave are expecting their first baby in June! I couldn't be more happy! I cant wait to go through this journey with Suzie as she did with both of my babies. It will be so much fun experiencing all the ups and downs with her.

I cant wait for our kids to grow up together.

Congrats Suzie and Dave! I am so excited for your new adventure!

Thanksgiving Pies

We have kind of created a tradition of making the pumpkin pies for Thanksgiving at my house with all the nieces and nephews. This year Alex and his family were out of town so we just had Hudson and Isaac over to make the pies. Liz is also now on our crew! So nice to have her back in Sioux Falls!

Hanging with Mr and Mrs Claus

We went to the local pottery shop a couple of weeks ago with Shelley and Hudson to paint with Santa and decorate cookies with Mrs Claus. Isaac was not himself at all. Very quiet and didn't say much. Just snuggled with Santa and did his project. Of course within 5 minutes of leaving he chirped up and was loving it. I have to pick up the finished product... I am sure it will be great to have that plate to use to leave cookies for Santa!

Go Pack, GO!!

In September Jeff bought a raffle ticket for the Dakota Bowl for a chance to win 2 tickets to the Packers/Vikings Monday Night Football game. Well, he won! Of course, who would he rather take than his beloved wife who is the Packer fan in the family. The game was on Monday. We knew we were in for a fun day when we got the email with the itinerary on it a few weeks ago. We left Sioux Falls at 1pm and I got to be the copilot. It was a pretty cool experience but I probably don't ever need to do it again as it was a bit freaky.

Here is the group who went. This picture was taken right when we got to Green Bay. As you can see I was the only girl. Don't be fooled... I kept up with all these men from start until finish....

The first stop was a bar called Stadium View. It was packed with fans and a live band and lots of partying. We had a bite to eat and several drinks here. Jeff said this guy in the picture below is on TV a lot.
After Stadium View we walked a block or so to go tailgating. This was a quick stop to get a picture of the field.
This is Julie. We tailgated with her family for an hour or so before we went into the game. They said they sell tailgating spots like they do tickets for in the game and most tailgaters just watch the game from their spot. It was amazing. People had crazy set ups with big screens, couches, bathrooms, full bars and full food. Green Bay Packer fans are nuts! But so cool.
Here we are at the game. Another group shot.
Awesome. Amazing. Experience.
Jeff and myself at the game.
After the game we went to another bar for an hour or so. Then it was back in the shuttle to the airport and we arrived in Sioux Falls at about 2am.
We were back in our own bed sleeping by 230am.

It was such an awesome experience that we will never forget! I am trying to figure out how we can get back there and watch the Packers play the Cowboys whenever that happens next.

Anna - 11 months

Anna is 11 months old today. She is such a big girl and such a sweetie! She walks everywhere she goes and stumbles and falls a lot! Oh man. You cant see in this picture but she has a fat lip and a cut on her nose from one of the many falls. I cant believe how I forgot about this stage with Isaac. But she is busy and keep me so busy! My life and my free time is very limited. Only when she naps. During that time I take a shower and try to get something done.

Anna is really into pulling everything out of everything. Pulling all the clothes out of the drawer, pulling out all of the toys from the toy box. She loves to play with tape. She is fascinated by it. She has mastered the stairs... going up and down. We spend a lot of time on the stairs. I let her play and I just watch so she doesn't miss a step and stumble all the way down. She loves to go after Isaac and love him up. She is still pulling hair but not as bad. She eats about anything except baby food. I am okay with that.

Oz Man

This little guy doesn't get the credit he deserves! He is such a big part of our family and he puts up with a lot! Half the day his food and water are up on the counter so Anna can't eat his food and play in his water. He gets rudely awoken during his naps because Anna wants to pull on his hair. Anna also tries to steal his treats when we aren't watching. We will find her a few minutes later with a dog bone in her mouth. Poor guy!

Isaac does love him though and they are best buds. Isaac will snuggle with him on the couch. When we go for car rides Ozzy now prefers to ride on Isaac's lap. It is pretty sweet and Isaac just giggles and loves it.

We often call him a grumpy old man because when kids come over to play he wants nothing to do with them and when they try to play with him he often runs away or growls a little bit. It is crazy to think he will be 10 this winter. I am sure he misses Hailey- I cant believe it has been almost 2 years since she has been gone.

Don't tell Jeff but last week Isaac asked me if we could get a puppy. I have a feeling Jeff would be okay with it... I am not ready.

We love you, Oz Man!

friends

My friend, Nikki has 2 little kids. Rylan just turned 3 and her little girl Alex is a month older than Anna. Our kids will be in the same grades. It is fun now that the boys are getting older they can play together. Anna and Alex just kind of stare at each other. It will be fun down the road having our kids basically the same age. They were over last week and I had to take a couple of pictures.

Pine Ridge Reservation

About a month ago there was a show on 20/20 on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation. It was a very moving and shocking hour. I watched with my eyes glued to the tv. They have nothing. One of the little girls that was interviewed owns 3 shirt. So many heartbreaking stories about kids and how poor they are. The worst thing is that they are living in our very own state. It hit me in the core and I couldn't get it off my mind. I felt I needed to do something.

A couple of days later I was on Facebook and saw an event created by a gal in Sioux Falls taking donations for the Reservation. I emailed her right away and started sorting through all my stuff. She told me she was taking a load on November 3rd. Oh my gosh. I called Jeff and had him bring me some boxes. I called my mom and had her bring me boxes. I ended up with 12 boxes of stuff. Then Suzie asked me if I could donate our furniture in the basement since we were getting a new couch. We were supposed to get the new couch in early September but it was back ordered. The morning while I was emailing Megan (the gal who lined up the donation) asking her if they would be interested in furniture I got a phone call from the furniture store saying my furniture was finally in and when could they deliver it. How cool/amazing is that. So Megan told me she would look into it and ended up saying they would take it.

Megan was just going to go with a load in the back of her truck and ended up having to rent a U Haul to get all the donations to the Reservations. Amazing.

I got an email from Megan this morning saying they gave our furniture to an elderly woman. All she has in her home is a wooden bench and a mattress. She was so excited to see our furniture. I am going to help more. I told Megan to keep me on her list and when she has her food drives I want to help.

drawers are fun!

This morning while I was getting ready I observed Anna (not so) gracefully getting into the drawer in my bathroom. I thought it was pretty sweet so I snapped a picture to send to Jeff. She thought it was pretty fun.

This afternoon while looking for a picture of Isaac when he was young I came across this picture. The picture below was taken right before Isaac was 11 months. Amazing as the picture taken of Anna was from today- 10 and a half months old. So funny how they are into very similar things at the exact same age.

preschool halloween party

This morning Isaac's preschool had a Halloween party. Isaac went as a cowboy. I came for the party. It was interesting being there with him at school. He was really clingy and winy and cried a lot. His teacher told me he is normally never like that. I am sure it was because I was there and he wasn't sure what to think. Oh well, it was still fun to see all the kids and their cute costumes. It was also fun to help in the class. I plan on helping in the classroom for many years to come. So he better get used to me! HA...Here are a couple of pictures from the party.

Happy Halloween 2011

Anna was a Butterfly- Isaac's pick
Isaac was Luigi

Our annual trip to Jeff' grandparents.

Back home ready to rock the neighborhood!

Grandma Mary came to see the kids

Last but not least...
Mario and Luigi!

Anna and I stayed home to hand out candy and go to bed (Anna.. not me). All the neighbors commented on how funny it was to see Mario and Luigi hitting the streets.
Jeff is such a good dad!

carving pumpkins

This is the first time we have carved pumpkins as a family. I asked Jeff when the last time he carved a pumpkin was and he didn't remember. Neither did I. It was fun. Isaac was kind of into it. Jeff was really into it. I was on mom duty and carved a quick one. I did mine the old fashion way and Jeff did it the new way...
Serious about the pumpkin carving.

Isaac was more serious about picking his boogers... :)

Isaac got more serious about it when we let him have the knife--
don't worry we had a very close eye on him.

The finished product.
