spray park

Today Isaac and I went to the Spray Park. It is in the Northeast part of town and we decided to give it a go after his nap. At first he was not so sure about it as one random kid kept getting a little too close and kept pulling at him to get in the water. Another little girl was trying to get him going too. I think it was a bit overwhelming. So once those kids backed off he was on his own and he got closer and closer and then he was loving it. Of course I took some pics.

hard times

Last week Jeff's grandpa passed away. He has been sick and suffering for about 6 months, but it is always hard to say goodbye. It was hard seeing so many people so close to us wipe away the tears.
Isaac was a trooper the whole week. He came to all the celebrations and hardly said a word. He did a lot of entertaining though. Had a whole room of people clapping for him at his demand. It was pretty funny and cute. A great way to lighten a hard time. Isaac got to meet a couple of relatives who were in town for the funeral.
Here are a couple of pictures from the week! Lots and lots of relatives from Grandma Linda's side.

okoboji

We spent the weekend in Okoboji. Jeff went down on Friday morning to see some old college friends, and Isaac and I went on Saturday morning. Of course, the one thing I forgot was my camera! Dang it. Oh well, we will have many more opportunities this summer to take pictures at the lake.

Isaac is so lucky and I am so thankful that he gets to grow up and have his summers on the lake. Jeff's parents live there in the summer, so we get spoiled every time we go. They get up early with Isaac so Jeff and I can sleep in and we get to do all kinds of fun things. On Saturday Isaac, Joe, John, Linda and myself went on a big boat ride. Isaac slept for most of it on Joe's shoulder. Last evening we went on a boat ride with Tom, Jen and their little girl, Makenzie. Isaac loved every minute of it. Next time I will bring my camera- I cant believe I forgot it!

playdate

Yesterday afternoon Emily Erfman, Nicki Ellerbroek and Nikki Cody came over with their kids. Rylan, Sophie, Charlie and Isaac played in the baby pool and the backyard for a good 2 hours. It was great to have them outside enjoying the perfect day. Aidan was out there too, just chilling in the bouncy seat. He was enjoying the day, too as he hardly made a noise the entire time we were outside. It is funny because the mobile kids (Sophie, Charlie and Isaac) would get in and out and in and out of the pool. They are so busy! It is so much fun to watch them grow up together and interact with each other. Enjoy the pic and have a great weekend! Happy Father's day to all the Dads!

zoo day

Isaac and I spent an afternoon at the zoo last week. My Aunt Patty got us a family pass to the zoo for the summer. We have gone a few times so far. It is definitely a good activity for Isaac and I to do during our afternoons. It gets us out of the house for a couple hours and he loves to wave at the animals and say hi to them, too. Here are some pics of our day at the zoo. Enjoy!

eat dirt!

As I have stated in a previous blog, we now have trees in the back. The trees are wonderful! We still have yet to put some grass seed down around them to grow more grass. Until this happens, I think we are going to be dealing with a small child who loves to play in the dirt! Last week he was playing outside. I was picking dandelions (happy mom???) and I looked over and saw Isaac over in the dirt. He looked up at me and his face was covered in dirt and he was eating it. Seriously, this kid is such a boy!

butterfly house

The day Suzie had the day off of work we also went to the Butterfly house. Isaac and I went there a couple of months ago with a friend and her daughter and he did not really get into it. This time was a whole different story- he loved it! He wanted to get those butterflies so bad! Enjoy some pics-

lesson learned

I learned a big lesson yesterday-

Not to go into stores with breakables with a 1 year old who has a bouncy ball!!!

Suz had the day off yesterday so we spent the day with her and we did some fun things. One of the things was to go to Larsen's Design to get a baby gift. Well, we found a bouncy ball in there that Isaac had to have. He was holding it at one point and he threw it on the floor and I grabbed it realizing that he better not have it until we leave the store. Well he was on my shoulders and started getting a little impatient. So Suz gave him the ball back. We came to a place in the store with a bunch of cool gifts. Some martini glasses and stuff. They were decorated really cool. The next thing we know... Isaac throws the ball and it bounces on the floor and......... CRASH!!! It lands on the table with all the breakables! Lucky for Isaac only 1 martini glass broke. They would not let me pay for it, telling me that this is not the first time this has happened. I felt awful. Needless to say, we bought the bouncy ball and a couple other things and got out of there. I'm sure this is the first of many slip ups, but man.... talk about embarrassing.

trees!!

We have trees! We had a couple before but now we have a lot more! We planted 7 more yesterday! 3 Crabapples, 2 Concolor Firs, 1 Siberian something or other and 1 Magnolia! They are huge and they really help to complete our house! We have one big project every year and that was it for the year and I could not be more pleased with how they turned out. Of course, I took pics. Enjoy!

memorial day weekend

The weather was perfect for Memorial Day weekend. On Sunday Jeff went golfing with some friends so Suzie and I set up the new baby pool for Isaac and got a little wet! He was not as excited about it as I was. But we still managed to get him in the water a little bit. I am thinking as the summer goes on he will get more and more into it.

On Monday we went to Mt. Vernon to see a cousin who was in the Military. They had a reception for him at the Mt. Vernon church and we had a wonderful meal. The best chicken Jeff has ever had, he said. We got to see Grandma and Grandpa Scott and some Aunts and Uncles. No cousins, this time. I did get a chance to talk to my Aunt Sharon who said she reads my blogs all the time! So I thought I'd give a little shout out to her- Thanks Sharon! On the way out of town we stopped and showed Isaac some horses. They were not very close to the fence so we did not get to get too close. Maybe next time!

I hope you enjoy the pics from our Memorial Day weekend!
