March 31, 2008

One year ago today I was admitted to the hospital to be induced. I remember telling my Mom that I wanted to get to April before I had Isaac. As a result of high blood pressure my Dr induced me 2 weeks early (my original due date was April 15th, 2008). So all day today I remember like it was yesterday going to my follow up appointment from being on bed rest over the weekend. The result was that my blood pressure had not dropped any and it was time to go directly to labor and delivery to have my baby. I remember the feeling and emotions like they were just yesterday. I remember sitting on the exam bed and her telling me the risks and complications and the process they were going to take. I wanted to cry, yet I was so excited to meet the little guy. Then, I remember walking over to the hospital and Jeff was by my side. He was on the phone with his Mom and I was on the phone with my Mom. Little did we know our lives were forever changed!!! I take that back, we did know they were forever changed, just not the extent.

I remember being checked into the hospital and Suzie came over while they gave me the IV. The first day was just a waiting day and nothing really happened. Everything started on April 1st at about 3am. April 1st was a long day. Isaac did not make his appearance until April 1st at 10:24pm!

I cant believe it has been a year! What a year. What a guy. He is such a blessing in our lives and I don't know what I would do without him. He is a pretty calm guy. Does not get too crazy. But he loves to smile. He loves to snuggle. He loves to giggle at the dogs. He still does not like the car seat. He does not like to get his diaper changed. He is the light of Jeff and my life.

Do I dare tell you this.... I don't want to jinx myself.... The last 2 nights he has slept through the night and he is starting to drink of out of a sippy cup! All of this is just magically happening right before his 1st Birthday. I love it! We go to the Dr on Friday and I am hoping we get the green light for him to switch to whole milk. Then time to give up the breast feeding! I am so proud of myself for going the entire year.

sleepless in Tahoe

We are in Lake Tahoe right now with Jeff's family. We are having a great time enjoying all the activities.... more on that later. Right now the one thing we are not enjoying.....sleep!

We are sharing a room with Isaac and it has been pretty rough. He has been waking up several times each night and then between 2 and 4 when he wakes up he decides it is time to play. So right now it is 3am and he is playing around on the floor while I type this and can barely keep my eyes open. He is crawling under the bed right now and he is loving every minute of it! Why do we have such a hard time with this kid and sleep? I would be more than willing to let him cry but when we are 10 feet away and he is staring us straight in the eye it is not an option.

With that said, we are sleepless in Tahoe.

some pics...

I thought I would upload some pics from the last couple of days. Yesterday we went to the park to enjoy the awesome weather and I also have a couple pics from this morning while we were having a "St. Patrick's Day photo shoot"-- enjoy!

sleepy st. patricks day

Well this year we wont be drinking green beer! That's ok though.

We have had a rough few nights in the Oliver home sleeping wise. I feel like as soon as we get Isaac on a good sleeping schedule he decides he needs to get some new teeth and then we are basically starting from square one, again. On Friday night he went to bed at 7 and was up at 12 and did not go back to bed until 3am! It was awful. Then he slept from 3 to 5 and then I pulled him in bed with me and nursed him back to sleep and he slept till 6. That was the worst night. Last night he slept from 7 till 5 this morning and decided he did not need to go back to sleep! How come he does not realize the greatness of sleep?! I did notice 2 new teeth yesterday. They are molars... and 2 more are working their way in. So hopefully only a couple more nights like this.

I decided that when he is 16 and wants to sleep until noon I am going to wake him up early and tell him it is payback for all those early mornings he put us through as a baby... is that wrong?? ha ha.

Yesterday we had a perfect day! It was 73 degrees, I think. We went to the park with my friend, Nikki and her little boy. We also took the dogs for a walk when Jeff got home. So we were able to take full advantage of the great day. I took some pics but have not uploaded them. I will work on that later today when my child decides he is ready for a nap!

Happy St. Patrick's Day to everyone and I hope you get a chance to enjoy it!

freezing rain = pajama day

I will repeat my topic of today's blog.... freezing rain equals pajama day!! It is pretty nasty outside today. I looked outside this morning and I could not see passed the icy windows, always a great thing to see in the morning. So I officially claimed today as a pajama day and we are not getting out of our pajamas and we are not leaving the house! So that is exactly what we are doing. It is always nice to stay home during the day because Isaac can stay on schedule and I can get laundry done (or attempt.... but seem to get distracted too easily).

I am going to add a couple of pictures today. One of them is of Isaac and my old golf coach, Griz. I help Griz with a junior tournament every year and he dropped off the stuff for me to get working and had to take a pic of Isaac and his "future golf coach"! I am also adding a couple other pics we have taken over the last few days.

This is our way of enjoying the cold icy day, I hope you are enjoying your day!

birthday blabber

So Yesterday was my (and Suzie's) Birthday. Happy Birthday to me..... thanks! Anyways... still not 30! But I do have a couple of things I would like to share about yesterday.

I have been into this internet radio website called pandora.com. It is great, if you have never checked it out, do it! You basically just type in the artist or the theme of music you want and it plays for hours and hours of that type. I love it. So with that said, Isaac got me some computer speakers for when we listen to Pandora all day! What a great idea, thanks buddy!

Last night Jeff and I went out for a little bit and we hired our first babysitter! Non family, non friend. She is an O'Gorman High School student and everything went really well! We will be doing this more often, I am thinking. She had Isaac in bed sleeping by 7:15.

11 months

I cannot believe Isaac is 11 months old today! The months are just zipping by. He is such a happy little guy and is usually only fussy when he is tired. He is still taking steps, getting better and better everyday. I just cant believe how much he changing. It is so much fun to see him learn new things everyday. He is a little explorer and he is into everything! I turn my head for a minute and he into something else. The other day I was in the kitchen and he was in his bedroom and he was really quiet so I had a feeling he was up to something. I went in there and he had taken all the diapers out of the drawer. He was pulling them out one by one and chucking them over his head. Funny, at least that is an easy mess to clean up.

One more month until he is a year! I am looking forward to the 1 year mark as I will start to ween him off of breastfeeding. I cannot believe I have made it this long and I am very proud of myself!

Suzie is in the Virgin Islands this week. I got a text from her today saying she was snorkeling and "beach hopping." I am really wishing I was there and cant wait to hear how much fun she had when she gets home! We already miss her.
